I couldn't agree with Amelia B.'s review more. One suggestion is to stay away from the white meat, it tends to be over cooked. While I usually choose the breast over the other choices, here it is dry and over cooked. the legs and thighs are perfect though! Absolutely love the broasted potatoes! As other reviews have stated, cosmetically this place is beyond hope, but it's well worth the stop for chicken that is better than the national chains although on par price wise. The parking lot is BAD! Deep pot holes that you could literally lose a tire in!

Ugh. Too greasy and for some reason dry chicken. You feel like you ate a few bricks when your done. The location is rough as well. Parking is about the best thing going for this place. If you have the option go to Chick fil a every time.

Stopped in yesterday to grab two chicken and rib combos. Oh wow. They were not good. The chicken was horribly dry. How does that happen to broasted chicken? The ribs had tasty sauce, but were covered in small bits of bone - normally not such a big deal, but because they make their ribs to fall off the bone, you don't know if you are sliding meat or bone bits onto your fork. It was pretty annoying. Of course, the broasted potatoes were fabulous as always. However, this is the second time we have gotten subpar food from this location...I'm starting to wonder if there is an issue. For the $35 we paid for these two dinners plus mushrooms and coleslaw, I don't expect the food to be almost inedible. Hmmm.

Love this place my favorite fast food restaurant. The broasted potatos are so good. I wish the one on Northline didn't close, but well worth the drive to this one. I rarely eat in here mostly take out. Food is always hot by the time I get home.

This place used to be pretty good. We ordered from them the other day and it was pretty bad. The broasted potatoes used to be swimming in butter, not the healthiest but pretty tasty. This time they were bone dry. The chicken served to us this meal was some of the worst chicken i have ever had. It just tasted old and was pretty much dried out. I have never had broasted chicken that dry in my life. Might wait a few weeks and give them another shot, in case this was just a bad day for them.If the quality is not up to former standards next time off my list they will come.

The place is not beautiful from the outside but, it gets the job done. I love the chicken at this place. Its fresh and I can tell they change the oil consistently because I never had an unpleasant taste of old oil. This place is a take-out restaurant and serves quick tasty broasted chicken. Yes, the prices are on the high side but once you have the shack potatoes with the butter and the hot crispy chicken you will fall in love. They have wonderful lunch prices. The best time to try this place is on a Monday or Tuesday because they have $5.95 four piece special.

Drive past the Colonel, no need to stop at Church and Popeye should be only about Spinach anyway. When you have a taste for Fried Chicken, you need to head to the shack... Chicken Shack. But wait, it's not fried, it's broasted... better still... Moist, tender, tasty and far less grease than fried Chicken. Musing... does this make it health food? Ambiance? Forgitaboutit. This place has the ambiance of a suburban Moscow apartment complex. So don't take a first date here unless you want to scream CHEAP. But if you have a hankering for some really, really good chicken. This is the place to be and you don't have to dress up. Oh, the Fish & Chips is really good too and if you feel the need to go upscale, splurge on the Shrimp Dinner... Yumm...

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have now entered the best chicken shack establishment in all of Metro Detroit. Whenever the mood hits and a craving for boasted chicken arises, this is the first that come to mind. It's the closest proximity, plus it has the best quality as far as I'm concerned. There's this experiment you can do for its level of authenticity,, you buy a box of chicken. Make sure it's dark meat, because I am a firm believer that white meat is for Americans with no tastebuds. It's like setting yourself up for failure. Now, take a big bite out of a leg or a thigh,, and let the euphoria kick in. The chicken is that good... the quality, the crispness and the way it's seasoned is beyond all other chicken shacks. Trust me when I tell you this, because this spot has been here longer than any other chicken shacks in Metro Detroit. It has stood the test of time and will keep standing long after that as well. It's not just about the chicken, they're have side dishes are out of this world. I, in fact, am a big fan of their boasted potatos. Make sure you take you hold on to something sturdy because these man nuggets of potatoes are smothered in butter. Also there's their fried mushrooms, it's extremely addicting and it goes hella well with any alcoholic beverage. Life is too short to be eating mediocre chicken parts. I love fried chicken and especially broasted chicken. While I wouldn't say Chicken Shack has the best broasted chicken, it's pretty good stuff. The restaurant is due for a facelift, the parking lot is full of potholes, the inside is well worn, it smells like 30 years of fried chicken but it's yummy. My favorite is the broasted potatoes with that butter sauce. I could drink that stuff if it wasn't guaranteed to clog my arteries! I didn't find the breast meat dry at all, rather it was pretty juicy. The front counter staff is really grumpy, they took orders then kept checking their phones. Perhaps for another job offer? Regardless, it was really annoying when the cooks put the orders up and they took their sweet time getting it. Chicken Shack is a quick place to hush that craving for fried chicken. Don't go there for the ambiance, you'll be sadly disappointed!

So, Have I had better fried chicken? Yes Have I had bigger pieces of chicken? Yes Have I had faster service when making fried chicken? Yes Have I had less expensive Fried Chicken? Yes But when we wanted fried chicken last night- and I wasnt cooking. Where did we go? Chicken Shack. I dont get the bad reviews- Yeah it's not as good as mine. But I prefer it to KFC. We've gone twice, so obviously the first time was good enough to warrant a second visit. The chicken was moist, although the pieces small. The potatoes are always delicious (and half the reason why I said- let's just go here) The broasted mushrooms though- killer!! Coleslaw is too fine chopped for me- but it's ok. However an 8 Piece Meal with a side of potatoes, coleslaw, one order of broasted mushrooms, (the meal came with a 2 liter) and another fountain drink was 31 bucks., I think thats more than Ive ever paid at KFC, Church's, or Popeyes. But the food feels a tad bit more real. Would I go again- Probably Would I hurry back?- Not really
